The parties confirmed desire to further develop political and economic cooperation. State Secretary Pildegovičs expressed Latvia’s interest in developing economic cooperation with Mongolia the sectors of transport and logistics, information and communication technologies, timber industry, pharmaceuticals, food and tourism. He commended the launching of activities by the Honorary Consul of Latvia, Choimpong Bat, as a result of which a Mongolian business delegation had arrived in Latvia after a longer interval. The State Secretary also confirmed readiness to build cooperation in the field of education as well as developing the legal framework.
The Ambassador informed the State Secretary that he was committed to dynamising cooperation between Mongolia and Latvia, and notified that Mongolian Foreign Minister was planning to visit Poland and the Baltic states early next year.
State Secretary Pildegovičs invited representatives from Mongolia to take part in the next year’s events in Riga, the European Capital of Culture, as well as in the meeting of ministers of education of ASEM states to be held in Riga during Latvia’s Presidency of the EU Council.
On 29 October, as part of his accreditation visit, the Ambassador of Mongolia will present his credentials to the President of Latvia Andris Bērziņš.
The Mongolian Ambassador’s place of residence is Warsaw, Poland.
